iTouch or iPhone - A user’s Review
I came across this well written article, that describes a user’s experience and reviews the iPhone in comparison with the iTouch.
Here are some interesting points from theis article:
I purchased the iPhone because from my point of view it had the features I wanted. It had a good browser with a good sized screen. It had wireless connectivity built in. I was getting to the point where I needed to replace a mobile phone. For me the wireless connectivity and browser were the main features I wanted. The iTouch came close to what I wanted, but for the additional cost, the iPhone gave me many more features I will take advantage of over time.
So far the experience with the iPhone has been pretty good. I made sure I asked the questions I wanted answered, but as with any product, it is only once you start using it that you find out the things others don’t tell you. Sometimes because they don’t know and sometimes because it doesn’t help the sale if they did. I’ve always found if you ask a direct question of a salesperson, they are very good and will provide the answer. Knowing those questions though is the problem. You don’t know what you don’t know.
The following are a couple of things I’ve found which may interest others:
- You can buy the iPhone without a contract. I use mine on a prepaid plan.
- Be careful when using an iPhone without a contract, or even with a contract. I was testing mine on a 3G service and within a matter of minutes it cost me around $28. If you get a new iPhone without a contract, or a smaller data contract under a couple of hundred megabytes, consider disabling 3G until you know more about the iPhone. All I did was use the Compass application and view my location a couple of times. There was no warning that I noticed, that charges would apply.
- I wanted to test TV output with content via the internet. I wasn’t able to get this to work. It could be a lack of my knowledge, or it might be I’m trying to do something the iPhone wasn’t designed to do.
