REVIEW – “Drive Under The Influence of Driver’s Ed Lite”
The idea behind Driver’s Ed Lite is to offer users DMV practice tests. You can answer sample questions from several categories including accidents, hazard awareness, roadway rules and traffic signs. Users can answer quiz questions in one category, or you can take a test spanning all categories. Either way, users select the number of questions they want to answer.
The app offers a meter that tracks users’ progress in the eight categories as well as information on common mistakes made during the written and road test. The mistake feature is actually quite useful for all drivers as it features information on driving rules and regulations that are often forgotten. At the same time, some of the content of the mistakes is a little lacking. For example: “Changing lanes, as you already know, is a major problem for students. Speed on lane changes is a major factor of a successful lane change, and sadly some students just don’t know how to do it.” Instead, describing the proper way to use speed would be much more helpful.
Overall, Driver’s Ed Lite is meant for the person who has a road or written driving test ahead of them and needs to be refreshed. But the app also provides the official state driving skills handbook for all 50 states. While most useful for those with an upcoming test, the content is important for all drivers to review.
The Driver’s Ed Lite menu is at the bottom of the screen and each menu is easy to use. There really aren’t too many features or selections to clutter the screen or confuse the process. Users are always able to arrow back after moving ahead in any feature or menu.
Being the free version of a “larger” app, the lite version of Driver’s Ed has only 40 total questions in eight topics – five per topic. Not the largest selection, but helpful nonetheless. The paid version provides 525 questions in 13 topics – up to 114 questions per topic. If you are nervous about your upcoming driver’s ed test, this app could definitely help you to see if you need to study more. And the good news is, if you do need to study – you can access your state’s handbook right from the app. Driver’s Ed: Lite and Free
